Summer’s finally here - hip-hip hooray! And to quote the profound words of one Mr B. Idol, lets hope its ‘Hot In The City’ for the most part this year.
The months of May, June and July are bursting with events and happenings here in Norwich: the season kicks off with the annual celebration of the arts that is the Norfolk & Norwich Festival. This runs from 1st May until 16th May and includes all manner of wonderful performers from the worlds of music, dance, cabaret, theatre, circus and beyond. We’re particularly excited about the Norfolk & Norwich Children’s Festival, which runs alongside with a host of events for little culture vultures and we will definitely be checking out the ‘multicoloured bliss’ that is Levity III by Architects of Air in Chapelfield Gardens.
May also sees National Vegetarian Week (18th-24th May) marked at Norwich eatery Pulse with a mini indoor fete on 20th May. We reviewed Pulse in our last edition but have included it again to coincide with this event. We also look at Pulse’s very-much-less-veggie younger brother, The Library Restaurant, Bar & Grill. Offering grill cuisine in a setting that oozes style and grandeur, it’d be a great place to treat Dad on Fathers Day (June 21st).
July sees two major annual events in the shape of the Royal Norfolk Show (1st & 2nd July) and the Lord Mayors Celebrations (9th-12th July). Both massive fun for all ages, the latter takes place in the heart of the streets of Norwich and represents the City’s biggest community celebration.
Finally, with the ailing economy still hitting most of our pockets, if you’re looking for free ways to spend the summer in Norwich, pack up a picnic, slap on the suntan lotion, grab a frisbee and head to one of our lovely parks. With great playgrounds for the kids, and plenty of space and greenery, feeding the soul was never easier to do.
Have a happy, healthy Summer,
