A much-celebrated Norwich haunt since the 1980s, when cocktails were where it was at and Bedfords themselves came up with the ‘Terminator’ and the ‘Spider’, Bedfords today still represents of the most colourful characters on Norwich’s going-out scene.
The building may be one of the oldest in Norwich (and features a seriously atmospheric crypt below stairs) but the general vibe at Bedford’s is very contemporary.
The central location, two well-stocked bars offering everything from Real Ales to an interesting line in cocktails, inviting leather sofas and a chilled out ambience makes Bedford’s an essential feature of any night out in Norwich.
Equally, you’ll find Bedford’s an excellent venue for meeting friends or colleagues during the day. A superb menu featuring classics and modern-European cuisine makes it an ideal venue for lunch (the homemade burgers are particularly standout).
During the warmer months, the outside Little Summer Bar outside provides a fabulous inner-City alternative to a beer garden.
The Crypt Bar is available to hire for private parties and functions (as are the upstairs areas). With its intimate and unique feel, it has to be one of the best places to hold a party or event in Norwich.
