Aladdin – Starry Cast Confirmed

While one poor urchin sings his way to a better life in the much-acclaimed Oliver! (running at Norwich Theatre Royal until August 4th), we’re already thinking about the line up in the tale of another young lad who’ll change their life from rags to riches – this time with the involvement of a Genie and a lamp. Aladdin is this years traditional family pantomime at the Theatre Royal and an all-star cast looks set to make it a fantastic and fun occasion for all.

A Hollyoaks favourite is swapping Chester for the magical world of Arabia to take on the lead role in this year’s Norwich Theatre Royal pantomime Aladdin.

Lucy Dixon, who currently plays Tilly Evans in the hit Channel Four soap, will take to the stage along with popular panto comedian Andrè Vincent who will be back for the fourth year running and takes on the role of Wishee Washee in the show, which runs from December 18 to January 19.

Having seen Andrè Vincent in action first-hand in Sleeping Beauty at the end of 2011, we’re positive he’ll bring a ‘bundle’ of laughs (poor wishy-washy joke there – sorry) to proceedings.

The pair join the already-announced cast-members Graham Cole (PC Tony Stamp in The Bill), Nick Aldis (Norfolk-born actor, and professional wrestler with the global TNA company) and perennially popular panto dame Richard Gauntlett, who will also write and direct the show, sponsored this year by Almary Green.

John Bultitude, of Norwich Theatre Royal, said: “The two latest casting announcements are going to help make this year’s show one to remember. We are really excited to be welcoming Lucy to the city to star in the festive spectacular.

“Add André into the mix with his distinctive brand of off-the-wall comedy and Aladdin looks like being a panto to remember once again. Oh yes it does!”
