Real ale enthusiasts in Norwich are very soon in for a special treat!
2012 is a significant year for The Friends of Norwich in Bloom who are celebrating 25 years of involving the community in successful gardening and environmental issues.
To add to their celebrations, The Friends of Norwich in Bloom have especially commissioned their own anniversary ale, Bloomers!
Bloomers is a refreshing blonde ale, with floral tones (4% ABV) and will be launched at The Assembly House next Tuesday afternoon (10th July - to coincide with the Anglia in Bloom judges having just completed their judging route for Best City in Anglia), after which it will be on offer at 17 of the best real ale pubs and bars in Norwich.
Independent local brewer, Mark Riches, of Beeston Brewery, who is brewing the real ale, is confident that Bloomers will be a winner! “If the beer is popular, it could become a regular brew and continue to raise the profile of Norwich in Bloom, and real ale generally, across Norwich and beyond,” said Mark, who is delivering the ale today so it will be in perfect condition for drinking from next week onwards.
“Bloomers will be available until early August, when Norwich will be judged as one of only five cities nominated for the Best City category of the Britain in Bloom competition,” said Pam Keten of the Friends of Norwich in Bloom. “We have high hopes that Norwich can win.”
“Our ale has been given its name, not only to raise the profile of Norwich as a blooming city, but to also recognise the contribution of the many volunteers (‘Bloomers’) who have worked so hard over the last 25 years to help make Norwich a special place to live. This joint venture with Beeston Brewery is just one example of the excellent support we have received from local businesses since 1987.”
Look out for Bloomers from next week onwards.
