Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending time in the cavern of contemporary gorgeousness that is Aurum Jewellers in the Norwich Lanes as they celebrated being the first shop in the UK (and the only one in Norwich) to stock the fabulous byBiehl range of jewellery.
Danish in origin, the body of the byBiehl collection consists of decorative ‘pods’ that you attach to leather bracelets. Each pod holds a different meaning or message – perfect for marking an occasion or giving as a special gift. Some are silver, while others are gold-plated silver or encrusted with sparkly rhodium stones. They are classy without being overly showy, and cool while being classic enough to suit all personalities. The leather thong-style bracelets would look just as at home on a beach somewhere as they would teamed with an evening dress at a glitzy event. There are even distinctly masculine styles for the gents.

byBiehl fits perfectly with the other collections that you’ll find at Aurum – imaginative, distinctive and wonderfully modern jewellery by local and international designers. Some jewellers cater for the masses and as such you’ll find their ranges very same-y and fairly uninspired. Not so at Aurum. It is easy to see that everything has been selected with the utmost care, and personally, I absolutely adore everything in there.
The launch event was a great excuse for new potential customers to step over the threshhold and experience Aurum. With a charity raffle, very special offers, fizz and delicious canapes supplied by St Benedict’s Restaurant (the miniature jacket potatoes drizzled in white truffle oil were to die for), the atmosphere was soon busy and buzzing. Marvellous.

As well as allowing me to get some serious ideas for my Christmas wish-list (until about 2020), the evening was a great opportunity to catch up with some of the fabulous and hardworking folk behind the businesses that we feature on EnjoyNorwich.com. It was also a chance to meet some very interesting new acquaintances. Olympic torchbearer Sarah Goring was a case in point – listening to her talk passionately about her upcoming move to the Philippines to volunteer with an international human trafficking charity was nothing short of humbling. And she let me hold her torch.

All in all a fantastic evening that reflected everything that Aurum represents. Sparkle, with substance.
