Norfolk charity The Fairyland Trust returns to Holt Hall this October with the “The Real Halloween”
The Norfolk based charity with a national reputation for introducing families to wildlife and trees through magical creations will run their autumn event amidst the stunning gardens and ancient woods of Holt Hall on 27/28th October.

The Real Halloween is a smaller event than the charities annual Fairy Fair, and celebrates all that is magical about Halloween and late autumn.

Throughout the weekend, children can take part in the charities ever popular workshops including, Witches Pets, Wizard Shields and Magic Potions and of course carve a pumpkin to take home. Other activities include lantern and shaker making, the witches’ kitchen, pixie post office and face painting. Families can also try their luck at Wizard Games with Sugar Beer Shot Putt, Vegetaboules, Broomstick Javelin, Apple Bobbing and more

Each day the event ends with a magical, lantern lit trail through the woods where the story of Real Halloween is told by candlelight.
Fire braziers, music from The Vagaband, storytelling, shows, craft market, food stalls and beer tent selling local real ale and mulled cider for the grown-ups all add to this unique family event.

Abbie Panks, from The Fairyland Trust said “The Real Halloween is a chance for families to enjoy a proper autumn festival. We want to get Halloween away from the plastic horror fest that it has become and for people to join us and experience the magic of nature in a beautiful and atmospheric setting”.

Speaking from experience, we love this event. This will be the third year we’ve taken Little Man (who in the past has taken part in such workshops as making ‘a Witches Pet’ and ‘Wizard’s Shield making’, and the first ever Real Halloween for our 7 month old baby. Obviously we’re looking for a ridiculously cute outfit to dress him up in. Be rude not to…
