Located by the main entrance to Norwich Intu Chapelfield shopping centre, Café Rouge brings French bistro style to the fine city.
The styling inside is classic french brasserie, airy with hints of art deco and lots of wood and brass. You’d be forgiven for forgetting that you were not stepping out onto a Parisien square upon leaving the restaurant. There is also outside seating if you fancy dining al fresco.
Café Rouge’s menu features French-inspired dishes such as Steak Frites, Poulet Breton, Moules and Confit de Canard, often with a contemporary twist. Breakfast is available all week and features pastries and pancakes as well croques and ‘full’ cooked breakfasts. The menus feature several options that are vegetarian and many are gluten-free or can be adapted to be so.
Regular offers (check the Café Rouge website for the latest deals) represent incredible value, making this a restaurant that should appeal to the many. The choice and pricing make it a great option for families (there’s a kids menu) and students/young people, as well as being the perfect city dining destination for special celebrations and romantic meals for two.
Naturally, no self-respecting French restaurant would be without a good Wine List. The drinks menu includes carefully selected wines alongside beers and cider, cocktails, mocktails and ‘Gin Blooms’ (a twist on the traditional Gin & Tonic).
Service is professional, friendly and attentive, and when we dined there recently, the waiting staff were able to advise us on unavailable menu items and assist us with our order in a very helpful manner.
Being on one level, with step-free access and an accessible toilet, Café Rouge in Norwich may also be a good choice for diners in wheelchairs or who struggle with stairs.
Free WiFi is available.
