With its open, chilled-out vibe the Café-Bar at Norwich Arts Centre is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the City Centre. On the mezzanine first floor the homely leather armchairs provide an excellent place to catch up on the daily papers, while the walls are adorned with regularly changing works of art. Continue reading

Drayton Old Lodge’s spacious Coffee Bar and Lounge is relaxed yet stylish. It serves great coffee, award winning homemade cakes and scones (their Chef won EDP Scone Maker of the Year 2011, which is good enough for us!) and a daily menu of freshly prepared food, plus specials. Continue reading

Bedfords

Situated in the heart of Norwich, Bedfords offers an excellent, café-bar experience from one of the City’s oldest buildings. High, beamed ceilings provide a striking contrast to the contemporary furniture, and the varied menu offers a good-value selection of above-average, modern pub-grub and bar meals. Continue reading

The Murderers Café Bar

Breakfasts, filled baguettes, salads and jacket potatoes sit alongside ‘traditional’ pub-style food such as Curry, Chilli Con Carne, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash and Burgers, all prepared and presented with care. On Sunday’s there is a traditional Roast. Continue reading

The Cellar House

The kitchen is now in the experienced hands of Head Chef Nick Shingles (whose previous posts include The Kings Head, Bawburgh and Delia’s Brasserie). Nick has designed a menu that offers extensive choice and value, using wholesome fresh ingredients with a local twist wherever possible. Cromer crab, Norfolk pork, locally made ice cream and local black pudding all feature on a regular basis. There is a great selection also for vegetarians (our favourite - the vegetable gateaux: layers of pancakes with mushroom duxelle, roasted vegetables and feta cheese) and children. You can even treat yourself to a cooked breakfast. Continue reading

Brasted’s has evolved into a chic hotel and event venue, as well as being a first class, 2 AA Rosette restaurant. The innovative menu features a range of delicious combinations of high quality, seasonal, local produce such as North Norfolk Coast Mussels and Jacmar Norfolk Goats Cheese. There is always at least one choice to tempt the vegetarian palette. Continue reading

ASK Italian Norwich

Inside, ASK is bright with a non-conventional style that can only be defined as contemporary-retro. Modern lines are influenced everywhere by 50s and 60s shapes and colours. Apparently the look takes its inspiration straight from the Italian city of Milan, being shocking (in a good way) and trend setting. Pieces inside were commissioned solely for ASK (the Manager tells us that the pattern on the restaurant ceiling is inspired by the ceiling in Norwich Cathedral). Continue reading

Pinocchio’s Restaurant

Expertly run by Jayne and Nigel Raffles, who also own renowned Norwich restaurants The Library, Pulse and St Benedict’s Restaurant, Pinocchio’s is a Norwich institution with the feel of a stylish Mediterranean brasserie.
