The Country’s oldest independent art house cinema, Cinema City is housed within and on the site of the elegant Suckling House and adjacent Stuart Hall in the historical heart of Norwich. Despite renovation and restoration through the ages, properties were recorded on the site as early as the 13th Century.

 

Cinema City reopened after extensive refurbishment in late 2007 and areas of Suckling House that were previously inaccessible to the general public, including a panelled room and vaulted bays, now provide the atmospheric setting for top quality, intimate dining.

 

Created by Norwich-born Head Chef Steven Smith, The Dining Rooms’ menu offers British and European classics using only the best local produce. Ignite your appetite with starters such as North Norfolk Mussel Paella with Chorizo. Follow with mains such as Woodforde’s Braised Leg of Pork with Celariac Mash and Honeyed Carrots or Attleborough Rib Eye Steak. The puddings are delightfully British, including such temptations as Marmalade Bread and Butter Pudding with Fresh Cream and Baked Apple with Brandy Steeped Sultanas, Toffee Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream.

 

For less formal dining, the new bar area serves food and drink all day to cinemagoers and visitors alike. Bar meals, cakes, coffee and soft drinks are available alongside carefully selected bottled and tap beers, great wines and cocktails. A covered interior terrace and a landscaped outside area to the front of the building are ideal for warmer weather.

 

With the impressive ambience of Suckling House as a backdrop and the fresh, high-quality fare on offer, The Dining Rooms is a high quality part of the Norwich restaurant scene.
