Nestled above what is essentially a beautifully renovated and restored neighbourhood pub, The Mad Moose Arms, the enchanting 1up Restaurant is considered to be one of the best places to eat in the City. This is confirmed by its awards and accolades, which include a Michelin Bib Gourmand and 2 AA Rosettes.

Somehow, 1up has managed to modernise and reinvent luxury dining, combining chic décor with fabulous food, attentive service and an informal tone that is modish without being pretentious.

Head Chef Eden Derrick has created a modern menu in line with the effortless sophistication of the restaurant. Emphasis is on quality and good value rather than the need to ‘impress’ (although the great cuisine manages to achieve this also).

In order to ensure the sort of unhurried experience that is worth savouring, 1up has only one sitting per evening. A refreshing practice, this means you’ll never feel ‘rushed’ or that your table (and seat!) is in demand.

1up works in perfect harmony with the Mad Moose downstairs, which with its own kitchen is popular at lunchtimes and excellent for a drink, a bite to eat or to take in some rays in the lovely outdoor beer garden during the summer.

A treat mid-week or on a Sunday, a place for a special celebration or the perfect setting for a romantic meal for two, the stairway to the 1up Restaurant is one set of stairs in Norwich well worth ascending.
