Recently taken over by the owners of luxury Country House Hotel, Elderton Lodge in North Norfolk, and undergoing a process of refurbishment, St. Giles House is an absolute jewel in the heart of Norwich.
The Grade II listed building, designed by renowned local architect George Skipper (also responsible for the fabulous Royal Arcade and Jarrold’s Department Store), is impressive enough from the street. Enter in and you are suddenly transported to a magical, beautiful world where 1920’s influences merge seamlessly with exotic European detailing and contemporary quality to give an end result that is both opulent and unpredictable in equal measure.
Whether you are resident at the Hotel or not, the AA Rosette-recognised Restaurant and Bar are well worth a visit. Sumptuous and stylish in décor (imagine dining on board The Titanic, pre-iceberg, obviously), with a vibe that nods very gently towards establishments like The Ritz and The Dorchester in London, but with a refreshing modern twist, you barely appreciate that you are in the middle of Norwich.
St Giles House aims to offer a superior experience above all else. Freshly prepared meals comprising the best local and seasonal ingredients are available alongside a carefully crafted wine list, all of which represent outstanding quality as well as superb value for money. The Bar (adjacent to the Restaurant) offers cocktails and coffees and if you’ve the time, let yourself drift away in the plush Lounge area or, on warmer days, the lovely sun terrace.
For private functions or parties, St. Giles House offers private dining rooms that enjoy the same high standard of food and service as the Restaurant in a unique, intimate setting.
