Summer in the City… and lets hope it’s a proper bona fide version of summer this year too, after the wishy-washy efforts of last year.
We’ve filled this June-July double instalment of EnjoyNorwich with plenty of lovely ideas for ways to while away the lazy, hazy summer evenings and weekends (and chucked in a couple of fantastic competitions too, to keep your summer on the right track).
Reviews this edition include Mackintosh’s Canteen - a wonderful contradiction of fine-dining-cum-café that fuses chic style and high quality cuisine with laid back ambience and manages to excel on all fronts. Perhaps somewhere good to take Dad for Father’s Day? Also HooLooVoo, a hair salon at the cutting edge (pun intended).
We visit St. Giles House, which, under new ownership, has had something of a subtle rebirth and a very successful one at that.
Norwich happenings to look out for include the innovative ‘Go Elephants’ outdoor and citywide art event. See how many you can spot from June 23rd. The Royal Norfolk Show will also happen once again on 25th and 26th June. Lets hope the weather is kind.
July 3rd-6th marks the annual festival that is the Lord Mayors Celebration. With a host of parades and performances, including the annual Lord Mayor’s Street Precession, the Chapelfield Gardens Music Festival, fireworks in the City Centre and an outdoor showing of the now 30-year old classic, Grease, it’s a great excuse to get out into Norwich and celebrate being part of this lovely City.
Finally, whether you’re staying put this season, leaving Norwich for faraway shores, or coming to Norwich from further afield, we wish you a safe, happy, sunny summer.
See you in August,
The EnjoyNorwich.com Team
