The actor renowned as one of William Shakespeare’s greatest comedians is the inspiration behind the new name for the Norwich Theatre Royal restaurant, which has undergone a fantastic refurbishment.
The new-look area is being named after Will Kemp who is known for creating some of the Bard’s best-known roles in Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo And Juliet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
His Norfolk links were cemented in 1600 when he danced a jig from London to Norwich completing the journey in nine days earning his efforts the name ‘Nine Daies’ Wonder.’
The refurb sees new mood lighting, the introduction of some round tables – ideal for larger groups and special occasions – and comfy tub chairs where you can enjoy a relaxing drink or snack during the day and dine in comfort at night.
Entry is via a glass door into a lobby area featuring new entrances to the toilets and a larger cloakroom space.
Open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am until the end of the last show interval and Sundays open 2 hours before a show, Norwich Theatre Royal’s ground floor Restaurant and Bar is an ideal stop-off if you’re shopping in the city, popping in for tickets or fancy a leisurely lunch. It also offers the ultimate in convenience for pre-show dining in the evening.
