Pinocchio’s Restaurant

Expertly run by Jayne and Nigel Raffles, who also own renowned Norwich restaurants The Library, Pulse and St Benedict’s Restaurant, Pinocchio’s is a Norwich institution with the feel of a stylish Mediterranean brasserie. Decor inside includes a large mahogany bar and wall long Picasso-inspired mural, and the restaurant thrives to the sound of live music twice a week. Continue reading

Grosvenor Fish Bar

A long-established family-run Fish & Chip shop offering delicious Fish & Chips in the heart of Norwich. Well worth a look are the £2.50 Daily Specials, which include the tasty 'Big Mack'. Continue reading

The Lodge Restaurant & Bar

The Lodge Restaurant & Bar in North Tuddenham (off the A47 between Dereham and Norwich) is a discovery that has a deserved reputation as one of the best eateries in the area. The menu features locally sourced, fresh produce, prepared by Head Chef Jason Pullen and his dedicated team (that includes Second Chef Alex Chapman, formerly at The Honningham Buck and Apprentice Poppie Mann, winner of a Young Chef Competition in 2010). Good beers, real ales and an extensive wine list round off the experience. Continue reading

River Green Café & Restaurant

A relatively new addition to the Norwich restaurant scene, River Green Café’s philosophy is ‘Eat well… Love Life… Tread Lightly’, promising ‘Vegetarian Food for Life’. Certainly this comes across through the imaginative menu and carefully considered, modern atmosphere. Open to all comers, you’ll find no dull vegan or veggie stereotypes here, thank you very much. Continue reading

Coffee Lounge @ Drayton Old Lodge

Drayton Old Lodge’s spacious Coffee Bar and Lounge is relaxed yet stylish. It serves great coffee, award winning homemade cakes and scones (their Chef won EDP Scone Maker of the Year 2011, which is good enough for us!) and a daily menu of freshly prepared food, plus specials. Continue reading

ASK Italian Norwich

Inside, ASK is bright with a non-conventional style that can only be defined as contemporary-retro. Modern lines are influenced everywhere by 50s and 60s shapes and colours. Apparently the look takes its inspiration straight from the Italian city of Milan, being shocking (in a good way) and trend setting. Pieces inside were commissioned solely for ASK (the Manager tells us that the pattern on the restaurant ceiling is inspired by the ceiling in Norwich Cathedral). Continue reading

Mambo Jambo

Predominantly a Mexican-style restaurant, Mambo Jambo also offers a variety of non-Mexican dishes, from steaks and burgers to healthier options such as jacket potatoes and salads. Vegetarians will be spoilt for choice. There is a 'Junior' menu for the under-12's and kids eat free between 4pm and 6pm Sun-Fri (one child per Adult). Mambo Jambo's well-stocked bar serves a wide range of beers, wines and spirits. Continue reading

Olive Branch Coffee Shop

Not really (or at all) Norwich, this Broads-located Coffee Shop is included here as a worthy destination to visit when out and about beyond the City. Continue reading

Olive Branch Bar & Restaurant

Though not strictly Norwich, the Olive Branch Bar & Restaurant is well worth the 10-odd mile journey. Smart and welcoming with gentle contemporary leanings inside, the Olive Branch is fine dining with a relaxed and non-pretentious atmosphere. Priding itself on making the most of the plethora of fresh, good quality local produce on its doorstep, food is creative, delicious and beautifully presented. Menus change daily, with a specials board available. Continue reading

Heydon Tea Rooms

Sit inside and enjoy the white tablecloths and real china like your Grandma used to use (sugar cube tongs included) or take your tea or coffee outside on warmer days and relax amidst the serene, slow-paced setting of Heydon Village. Continue reading

The Parson Woodforde

The restaurant is large and family-friendly, styled in a blend of the traditional and contemporary, with wooden beams and flooring alongside glitzy light fittings and purple tones. Head Chef Eden Derrick and Sous Chef Gregg Baker have devised a superb set of menus, including a Bar Menu of lighter bites, which include fresh ingredients almost exclusively sourced from within Norfolk. Continue reading

The Garden House

Throughout the day, the atmosphere is calm and peaceful - ideal for a working lunch or catching up with friends over coffee. The Garden House serves excellent homecooked food throughout the day at very reasonable prices. On Sunday, enjoy a delicious Roast with all the extras for a mere £7.50 (veggie option available). Wash it all down with a great selection of wines and ales. Continue reading

Frank’s Bar

If we had to sum up the vibe at Frank's Bar, we'd say hip New York café meets Paris (artists quarter) brasserie, with just a tiny sprinkle of 1980s (the good bits). You'll love the food and the atmosphere will make you'll feel like you've come home. A rare find indeed. Continue reading

Bedfords

A much-celebrated Norwich haunt since the 1980s, when cocktails were where it was at and Bedfords themselves came up with the ‘Terminator’ and the ‘Spider’, Bedfords today still represents of the most colourful characters on Norwich’s going-out scene. Continue reading

Bedfords

Situated in the heart of Norwich, Bedfords offers an excellent, café-bar experience from one of the City’s oldest buildings.
