Voted Norfolk’s favourite building it is easy to see why. Norwich Cathedral has welcomed visitors for over 900 years and continues to offer a must see experience to all who pass through its gates.
Dominating the skyline of Norwich, the Cathedral boasts the highest Norman tower and largest monastic cloister in England and is home to a renowned and famous collection of over 1,000 medieval roof carvings and a selection of original Norman wall paintings.
As well as the awe inspiring Cathedral, you can enjoy the tranquility of the Cathedral Close, stop for lunch or a drink in the Refectory and visit the Library with its collection of over 30,000 books. Other attractions include the beautiful and relaxing Herb Garden, a treasury and an Exhibition Space which hosts a programme of local, national and international exhibitions throughout the year.
Although steeped in history the Cathedral is much more than a museum. Clergy and volunteers can regularly be seen going about their daily work and in addition to holding 1,500 services each year the Cathedral hosts numerous events and concerts.
Continuing to adopt its founding principles, Norwich Cathedral provides a welcoming experience for all, emphasised by its ranking on TripAdvisor as the number 1 visitor attraction in Norwich. See the full VISITOR’S INFORMATION LEAFLET.
