Crime Fiction Evening - Thursday 2nd September, 6.30pm Jarrolds London Street Norwich NR2 1JF.

An absolute must for all lovers of the crime and suspense novel. Some of the very best names in contemporary crime fiction will be joining Jarrolds for what promises to be a truly fascinating evening.

An outstanding line-up of authors includes Mark Billingham, Martyn Waites, Sophie Hannah and Andrew Taylor. The format of the evening will be short individual talks by the authors followed by audience Q&A.

Andrew Taylor, studied in Cambridge, and he is now a winner of the Cartier Diamond Dagger. Andrew is also known as an award-winning crime, and historical novelist. His work includes 'The American Boy' and 'The Office of The Dead'. In 2010, his book 'The American Boy' was selected by 'The Times' as one of the Top Ten Crime Novels of The Decade.

Martyn Waites, worked as a professional actor before becoming a writer. His acting career landed him jobs in programmes such as The Bill, and also adverts for Marks & Spencers. A former Writer in Residence at Huntercombe Young Offenders' Institution and HMP Chelmsford, he currently runs arts-based workshops for socially excluded teenagers. Originally, he didn't think that writing was for him, however after expanding on a few good ideas, he has been nominated for the CWA short story dagger, and also a CWA dagger. His latest books include Bone Machine, Speak No Evil and the Anatomy of Ghosts.

Mark Billingham was born and brought up in Birmingham. Having worked for some years as an actor and more recently as a TV writer and stand-up comedian his first crime novel was published in 2001. He has written novels such as Sleepyhead, which made it all the way to America. But he is widely known for his Tom Thorne books, which are a series of children's crime books. His latest one to add to the collection is called ‘From The Dead'.

Sophie Hannah is the author of four bestselling novels and is published in 19 countries.  She is also a prize-winning poet and was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize in 2007.  Hat Trick Productions have bought the novels and plan a Prime Suspect style television series. Sophie Hannah will soon be touring the UK on publication. Her work includes, ‘The Wrong Mother', and ‘The Other Half Lives' and her latest book 'A Room Swept White'.

Book signing with General Sir Richard Dannatt - Jarrolds - Tuesday 28th September, 6:30pm.

One of the most respected British Generals of modern times, General Sir Richard Dannatt will be joining us to introduce and talk about his autobiography.

Book signing with Stephen Fry at Jarrolds - Friday 17th September, 12.30pm.

We are delighted to welcome Stephen Fry to Jarrolds book department to sign copies of his eagerly anticipated autobiography, The Fry Chronicles: An Autobiography

Much loved by the public and his peers, Stephen Fry is one of the most influential cultural forces in the country. This dazzling memoir promises to be a courageously frank, honest and poignant read. It will detail some of the most turbulent and least well known years of his life with writing that will excite you, make you laugh uproariously, move you, inform you and, above all, surprise you.

A very special evening at The Assembly House, Norwich featuring a presentation by Jill Norman, the long-time editor of Elizabeth David's works and much more...

Legendary cook Elizabeth David, introduced a dreary post-war Britain to the sun-drenched culinary delights of the Mediterranean; to foods such as olive oil and pasta, artichokes and fresh herbs - products that have become staples of our diet today. A new book, At Elizabeth David's Table, is a collection of simple recipes for everyday food celebrating Elizabeth David, and is published to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the publication of her first cookery book, Mediterranean Food. This collection celebrating the ultimate 'foodie's foodie' is the very first time that Elizabeth David's recipes have been illustrated with colour photographs and to commemorate this special occasion, The Assembly House is proud to host an evening in her honour.

The special evening will feature a presentation by the long-time editor of Elizabeth David's works, Jill Norman, and a cookery demonstration by The Assembly House's Chef Patron, Richard Hughes. Since 1992 Jill has been Literary Trustee of the David Estate and she compiled this collection of recipes and wrote the introduction for At Elizabeth David's Table. Jill has published an award-winning list of books on food and wine over the years and has also written several books on herbs and spices so it will be an honour to have her with us. This fascinating evening should appeal to all Elizabeth David fans and will consist of:
