Found in Swanton Morley, a chocolate box Norfolk village that is steeped in history and handy for Norwich and the wider region, Carrick’s at Castle Farm is the perfect relaxing stay for those who value peace and quiet.
Set within a 720-acre working farm (farmed by the Carrick Family since 1929 and incorporating three Sites of Special Scientific Interest), this multi-award winning stay oozes character inside and out. Every inch of the interior is decorated with original art and remnants drawn from all aspects of the Carrick Family and their colourful history. This unique and charming feature, alongside the beautiful furnishings and modern highlights (under floor heating throughout, Internet access, flat screen TVs, DVD players and freeview in every room) create a sumptuous and welcoming appeal that will satisfy even the most discerning guest.
Carrick’s has four exquisite rooms, each with its own individual character. All have Egyptian cotton sheets, coffee and tea making facilities (including a fridge for fresh milk) and fresh water from the farm’s own borehole.
Bullards Room (named after Family Grandfather Richard Bullard, who established Bullards Brewery in Norwich in the early 1800’s) is a refreshingly spacious double with views out onto the farm and the front garden. It features a large ensuite bathroom with an additional shower.
The beautiful Dressing Room (named as it used to be the Family Fathers’ Dressing Room), with ensuite shower room, has a lovely aspect over the River Wensum.
The Carrick Room, a double with a high ceiling and views over both the front garden and also to the waters edge of the River Wensum, bears an ‘African Theme’. A nod to the fact that the Carrick Family were great travellers, all the items decorating this room were collected on some overseas adventure. This room has a divine private bathroom with a roll top bath.
The Ethel Carrick-Fox Room – an elegant twin – is named after Ethel Carrick-Fox, a celebrated artist who led the ladies post-impressionist movement (look for her works throughout the house). This room contains a sink and also has a separate private shower room.
Carrick’s at Castle Farm is as high quality a stay as you’d expect from a recipient of a 5-star Gold Award, Green Tourism Gold Award and AA Breakfast Award. The opportunity for Farm Walks, the guest-led ethic that includes breakfast being planned at a time convenient to you, the location and the strong environmental policy adopted on the farm mean that there is far too much to include here. You’ll just have to experience it all for yourself.
Tariffs: Double from £95, Singles from £65 (per night, inc. breakfast).
Dinner – 3 courses, £25.
