Since undergoing a complete transformation in 2008, The Racecourse Inn on the outskirts of Norwich is determined to be one of the best family-friendly places to eat in the area. Offering a rare combination of style and service alongside extensive and carefully thought-out child-satisfying facilities, it is a great place to eat for all the Family.
Keep your little ones amused with ‘Ritchie Richardson’s (the cheerful monkey character presumably named after the Richardson’s Group, of which The Racecourse is a part) Adventure Island*. On par with some of the best play-barns, this huge indoor assortment of slides, ball pits and swinging padded things is bound to keep the kids occupied while they build up an appetite. For outside play there is the Pirate ship, a brightly coloured play area that beats most parks hands-down based on the variety of equipment it boasts. The Racecourse has a great children’s menu, including established favourites like burger in a bun and fish fingers as well as contemporary dishes like poached salmon for the more discerning junior diner! With great prices and the lure of the ice cream factory for dessert, The Racecourse is ideal for little people of all ages (a selection of baby foods are even available upon request).

For the grown-ups, it is nice to see that the ‘family friendliness’ hasn’t compromised the fact that The Racecourse is still a very good eatery. Contemporary décor surrounds the children’s areas and, again, a delicious menu offers traditional pub-restaurant favourites as well as dishes you’d expect to find in a modern City Centre restaurant. Prices are good across the board and a comprehensive wine list, with plenty by the glass means you can sit back and relax while the kids run amok in a safe, controlled environment.
The Racecourse also offers a very competitive Carvery (both in terms of taste and price), including a Veggie Carvery and Children’s Carvery option.

With its serious family-friendly leanings, The Racecourse is an ideal venue for Children’s Parties and these can be held throughout the week between 9am and 9pm. Ritchie Richardson himself may even put in an appearance. Food from the hot menu or cold buffet can be arranged.
Two-hour Children’s Parties available for 3-12 year olds (an hour and a half in the play area and half and hour for food). £7.50 per child – minimum 6 children.
*Indoor play area supplementary charge £2 for 2 hours.
