One of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s ‘Big 5’ (the 5 most visited nature reserves), Ranworth Broad is a lovely day out for tourists, families and dedicated nature-enthusiasts alike. It is of national and international importance for wildlife.
Boardwalks provide a safe and accessible route through the unique waterside environment to a floating visitor centre complete with viewing window out onto the wider broad and a host of hands-on activities about the nature, history and traditions of the broad.
Boat trips are available, including an inexpensive ferry from the visitor centre back to the village.
Boardwalk open daily. Visitor centre open Apr-Oct 10am-5pm.
Entry is free.
Boardwalks provide access for wheelchairs and pushchairs throughout the reserve and to the visitor centre.
Parking is in the NWT car park in Ranworth Village (a 5 minute stroll to the nature reserve).
Due to the sensitive nature of the indigenous wildlife, no dogs are allowed onto the reserve.
Other Norfolk Wildlife Trust sites near Norwich that are well worth a visit include Hickling Broad, Cockshoot Broad, Alderton Broad and Upton Broad and Marshes.
