Cinema City is steeped in heritage, both from a cultural point of view and from the historical angle of its setting.
The Country’s oldest independent art house cinema, Cinema City is housed within and on the site of the elegant and fascinating Suckling House and adjacent Stuart Hall in the historical heart of Norwich. Despite sympathetic renovation and restoration through the ages, properties were recorded on the site as early as the 13th Century.
An essential stamping ground for film buffs, Cinema City hosts a broad programme, ranging from the popular blockbuster to the lesser know independent movie. World Cinema is given equal footing here.
Cinema City reopened after extensive refurbishment in late 2007. It now boasts 3 superior screens, state of the art sound equipment and digital projection facilities and new public areas including a bar and a top class restaurant. In addition, areas of Suckling House that were previously inaccessible to the general public are now open for the first time.
In addition to being an atmospheric and well-loved venue for watching films in Norwich, Cinema City offers exciting practical courses for schools and the general public, designed to stimulate and enhance appreciation of moving image culture in an informal, accessible style.
