Under the operation of the Union of UEA Students and moving towards its second decade of providing Norwich with the latest sounds, Norwich Waterfront has seen the likes of Paul Weller, Radiohead, Moby, Pulp and the Arctic Monkeys perform from its riverside location on the oldest street in Norwich. As well as live music in the form of bands and singers, the Waterfront also hosts regular club nights (it was granted the first all night music licence in Norwich back in the early 90’s) and has played host to globally renowned Superstar DJs including Fabio, Grooverider, John Digweed and Danny Rampling.
On two floors (the ground floor, which has a capacity of 700 with a bar, dressing rooms and toilets and the first floor with a 200 capacity and café bar), the Waterfront has entertained over 1 million customers since December 2003. It operates all year round, with regular club nights on Fridays and Saturdays and live music two or three nights a week.
Proud to operate an ‘open to all’ policy, the Waterfront has full disabled access and though it is associated with the Union of UEA Students, it is far from being a ‘student club’, attracting music-lovers of all ages, backgrounds and occupations.
The Waterfront was awarded ‘Best Nightclub and Best DJ’ in the EDP ‘Going Out Awards’ 2007 and was voted Regional Winner 2007 in the Best Bar None Awards.
For anyone with an interest in music who lived in Norwich during or since the 90’s and 00’s, the venue surely holds fond (if not slightly hazy) memories. For those of you who are new to Norwich and looking for a great gig or night out, the Waterfront is a key part of the Norwich live music scene that you must check out.
